Details:

Used Mavic front derailleur from the mid 80's, maybe a little later. It was used by one rider and taken off soon after. I think every part is original.

Sometimes removing deep rust invites more rust. The corrosion comes off the cages almost too much with even a green scrubber pad for instance. Or, you can lube it and just ride it as is, and the corrosion will stop. I do not clean most of this stuff as it is a collectible item and people have their own methods they prefer.

There is little evidence of wear seen from the function of shifting gears and pushing the chain around, and no dug in grooves from the BB flexing around or just poor adjustment heavy use like you see on really used front derailleurs. Their plating is unique on the cage and it cleans with a dry sponge. Six of one, half dozen of the other. Barely used, light corrosion from storing nearly 30 years.

The chromed bolts also show corrosion rust as seen in pictures as well.
